What material to print the Root CNC in?

What material to print your Root CNC in? gets asked a lot so please comment below what works well for you.

  • ABS - Work well and last the test of time, I had machine running for multiple year without any issues
  • PLA - Not recommended for the spindle mount as PLA will soften with the heat.
  • PETG
  • ASA
  • Carbon Filled PLA

In my experience, a PLA+ hits the sweet spot, as PLA has far less give in it than ABS, PETG, Nylon etc. so is great for rigidity. However, the spindle/stepper heat is not an inconsequential factor, so for those mounts PETG is still probably the better choice. But for carriages and box section mounts I’d be using PLA+ every time.
