Guitar cnc advise

Hi,

As a hobby I built guitars. And now I’m looking to build a cnc to help achieve more precise and repeatable results.
The bed I’m looking for is about 80*40/50cm big.

Is a root 4 lite doable for this? What cnc would you recommend? I’m hoping to keep the cost reasonably low…

Hi,

I would imagine the Root 4 Lite will be suited for that size machine. I would expect the machine to have its longer axis in Y direction.

here is a spreadsheet to workout what length ball screws you need:

I’ve highlighted your ballscrew lengths in orange:

Kind Regards Pete

Thanks Pete!

One more question sorry
I don’t have a 3d printer is it possible to buy the printed parts and the starter pack from you’re shop together?

I live in the Netherlands.

Or maybe a tip on where to print it.

Regards Joost

Just realised that a axis of 60mm is a bit short. I would rather have it 100mm+

So I guess a root 4 build would be more suitable.
I’ll check what the cost would be for my size

The Root 4 is a great machine! so either route you go will do your job.

As for printing the parts - I shall look into this. the Root 4 does take a lot of plastic but it is something I can do - considering my printer is mostly idle!

Hi Pete,

Thanks for you’re reply. I would love to get a price for the 3d printed parts.
And for the shop, is the dustshoe panels going to be added?

I have just machined a new dust shoe for my Machine (As I crashed my old one - whoopsy).

and I’ve also got a number of other items I want to get into the shop - so please stand by

Standing by Sir :blush::+1:

I’ll keep an eye out in the shop

Would you (or anyone else here) be willing to print the parts for me? I’m located in the Netherlands.

remind me - what machine was it for? I have some Root 4 Lite parts lying around

Hi Pete,

It’s for the root 4.
