Root 3: ok to use larger box rails?

I’m considering starting a build of the Root 3 design. I have some surplus 1.5" (38mm?) square steel stock on-hand. Would it be viable to build it using the larger size box rails to get more rigidity (with mods to some of the 3D printed parts naturally) or would it be impractical (too many changes)?

I would consider to build the Root 4 instead, therer is an imperial version is design for that size box section. Also the root 4 is stiffer then the Root 3 anyway.
