I am starting to print parts for a root 4 build. I found the print orientation recommendations for root 3, but not for root 4. What is your recommendation for the carriage? Its the part I’d like to start with.
Or can I assume that when I load STL files in PrusaSlicer, the orientation of the part is as it should be printed?
Thanks!
Hi Jodldoe,
Welcome to the Root CNC forum!
I would recommend printing the parts as per the Root 3 print orientations. As most of the Root 4 part shares the same DNA as the older brother. So please use the Root 3 print orientation as a start point.
I know a couple of missing and I’ll endeavour to get those updates. Those changes might take place on the new Wiki site - so keep your eye out there too! www.wiki.rootcnc.com
Which carriage are you looking to print? and I’ll post a photo here to get you going?
thanks pete!
i have started printing XY_Carriage.STL
after loading the file into prusaslicer, it was placed upright, which didn’t make sense to me (though i’m pretty new to this) so i oriented it with the logo side down and it seems to have printed ok. what would be your recommendation?
Hey
I would recommend printing the part in this orientation:
This is the way I’ve printed all my carriages and they have turned out perfectly - also its doesn’t need support this way!
