Has any one used smooth rods for the z axis on root3 instead of the ball bearing rails, if so can any one share.
Thanks in advance
Hi Musthafa,
I can see your email but it would seem you’ve raised a post in the Root 3 standard category. Are you still looking for the LITE machine?
As I am rather busy with other projects - I don’t have time to look into the the smooth rod variant but the Linear guilds are far superior than the smooths rods - I’ll highly recommend going down that route if the budget allows.
Additionally, it’ll take a huge amount of rework for the Z carriage on the Root 4 Lite, as its tightly packaged together - I’ll doubt it’ll all fit together.
Kind Regards Pete
Hi Pete,
Oh wow. I’m surprised that you have replied to my email. Yes i did a post on the website forum thinking that you would not look into emails.
I know using the guilds is the best option for precision. if you are busy, would you please care to send me the fusion360 files so that i can do the changes.
Also what is the size of the Z Axis GT2 closed loop belt, care to share a link, (232T) is that the belt length?
Oh hey and by the way im from Maldives.
Best Regards
Musthafa
I do try and keep on track of my emails, but open questions which can help the wider community, I do like to do in a public forum.
I know there has been some belt shortages for the Root 3 Lite Z axis belts and I think this information might help you. Low stock for the closed loop Z axis belt (232mm GT2) · Issue #1 · RootCNC/Root-3-Lite-CNC · GitHub
I’ll look into the more suitable file formats for editing.
Kind Regards from the UK!
Ok thanks Pete,
Next time I’ll keep posting public.
Hi Pete,
I check the link from AliExpress and like I said again for this small small belt shipping to my country is crazy.
Finally, found another cheep seller. Ordering belt now.
Again thanks for the details.
WOW! I didn’t even know shipping would get that high! dammmmmm
